A Rather Boring Week

Hey everybody! We hope that you and the family are in good health and good spirits. We’re checking in again after a rather slow week, but everything is fine on this end, with no complaints.

Our last entry was about going to a church service at The New Covenant Church in Savannah. It is supposed to be United Methodist, but it’s a safe bet that John Wesley wouldn’t recognize it. Well, the next day was Memorial Day, so we cooked-out. Jesse grilled lemon chicken which was delicious (he acts like he knows what he’s doing); Jo made a great Asian noodle salad, and we had corn on the cob, green bean salad and iced tea (sweet tea). Our friend Sara came over for dinner, and we had a good time talking and laughing. After lunch, Sara invited Jo to her friend Inger's house because Sara was going to order a hand-knitted sweater from Inger who makes fabulous sweaters. Walking into Inger's house was like going to the Paradise City Arts Festival. There was a feast for your eyes everywhere you looked - including her bird feeder. Jo came home with all kinds of decorating/crafting ideas.

The rest of the week was same ol’ same ol’ but on Friday, we went fishing at the Back River fishing pier at Tybee Island. Well actually, Jesse fished from the pier and Jo brought her lawn chair, the local newspaper and a book. The weather was perfect that day, and the scenery from the beach was/is beautiful. As far as Jesse’s luck, the only thing he caught was a baby shark. Two other guys fishing from the pier caught a couple of horseshoe crabs, but that was about it. Afterwards, we went around to the other side to North Beach and had some sandwiches and just relaxed. We had worked so hard this week :-).

On Saturday we went to a tag sale at a nearby church where we picked up a Scrabble game and a few other small items. Later, we picked up some nice coffee /side tables from a Craig’s List find. We’re trying to furnish the house without breaking the bank. It’s going slowly, but we’re getting some good stuff. A side note: We read in the newspaper that the City has (re)purchased the marina at the end of main road to our house. We’re excited that there will be an accessible entrance to fishing water so close (less than 2 miles). Yay!
So, other than those things, it was just the usual work around the house. Hopefully we’ll have more to share with you next week. Until then stay well. Give folks our greetings.

Jo and Jesse

P.S. Here are some pictures of the folks at the Marketplace. Can you find Jo's decorative switchplates? Oops, it's upside down.
